Use QC Navigate to Communicate with Students
Blackboard and CUNYfirst provide easy ways to communicate with your students by email, either individually or as a group. Now you can also use the QC Navigate platform to easily email or text your students.
Log into QC Navigate at: https://qc-cuny.campus.eab.com/ (use your CUNYfirst credentials: firstname.lastname+last 2 digits of your CUNY ID).
If you also have an adviser role in the system, you will see “(staff)” next to your name when you have logged in. Use the triangle to select your “(professor)” role. This will generate a table listing all the students in your classes.
Select one or more students using the checkbox to the left of students’ names, and click on the “Actions” button directly above the checkboxes.
Click on “Send Message” to send an email or send a text.
Messages you send using Navigate will be logged in Navigate, in the “Conversations” area (left navigation panel, envelope icon --- second from the top).
Email messages will come from the email address that Navigate has for you. Currently this email address is whatever you have set as your “preferred” email address in CUNYfirst; you can see what address this is by checking one of your sent messages and hovering over your name. If students reply to your message, their reply will be sent to that address.
Text messages will come from a number that does not support replies, so students cannot reply to text messages. Bear this in mind when you compose a communication using this method.
